Derwood has lived in Bristol for more than 30 years. His passion is photographing people and movement, in particular dance in its many forms with the aim of capturing the subject’s personality and telling a story. He also enjoys making still life compositions of flowers. 

He works both in the studio and on location and has had the privilege of photographing the athletic and graceful dancers from top companies in recent years, mostly at London and Birmingham theatres. In all his work he has endeavored to reflect the grace, elegance, and beauty of everything that has been in front of his lens.

His work has been exhibited recently at the Bristol Guild and the Royal West of England Academy as well as internationally.
