Portishead based fibre artist Rose Lafferty creates felted pictures under her business name of Rose Felt Inspired.  

 

Her works are influenced by nature and range from seascapes (where powerful waves are a recurring theme) to moorlands, mountains, flowers, animals and birds.

 

Whilst Merino wool is usually the dominant fibre in her pictures, she also uses a variety of other wools and fibres including silks.

 

Rose buys whole rare breed sheep fleeces, preparing and dyeing these herself to add particularly unique elements to her pictures. 

 

She uses wet-felting and needle-felting techniques to create the pictures and usually a combination of both to explore light and detail. 

 

Wool has taken over her life (and her house) since she discovered it as her artistic medium.
